Nocado GmbH is an internationally operating manufacturer of fittings, valves and components made of stainless steel and special materials. Products also include butterfly valves, which Nocado manufactures for use in the food and beverage industry. Because the valves are designed to provide years of safe, economical, low-maintenance 24/7 operation, Nocado places high demands on the quality of each component.

Problem

With large nominal diameters or high process pressures, considerable forces can act on the axes of disc valves. This can increase the forces required to operate the disc valve and cause the axes to wear more quickly. To solve this problem, some manufacturers use standard plastic bushings on the axes. However, the bearings are pushed loosely onto the shafts and easily fall off during installation and maintenance of the butterfly valves. If a missing plain bearing is only noticed during operation due to a leaking valve, this will cause a considerable disruption to operation.

Solution

The developers at Nocado have solved this problem with special iglidur G plain bearings. Fitted with a slot and spring, they quickly snap onto the grooved shaft ends of the disc without the need for tools. This eliminates the need for a third hand to keep the bearings from falling out during installation or maintenance of the butterfly valves. The iglidur G material is an all-rounder that has very good coefficients of friction, is resistant to edge pressure and is particularly suitable for pivoting and rotating applications.
